Anthony Joshua Retains Heavyweight Championship Tittle

Anthony Joshua retained his WBA, IBO and IBF titles against Carlos Takam who replaced Kubrat Pulev at 12 days’ notice.

However, many in the boxing world are wondering why the referee stopped the fight in the 10th round after a series of heavy punches from Joshua, thoTakam was still active and competitive.

The fight was a bit of a puzzle for Joshua as he started the fight cagily and he got caught by a headbutt by Takam in the 2nd round which might have broken his nose. From then on, Joshua became more aggressive but could not effectively put Takam away, knocking down the Frenchman of Cameroonian origin in the 4th round but he fought gamely on despite having cuts in his eyes which the ringside doctor kept checking.

The fight was finely poised when the referee, Phil Edwards stopped it. Joshua gets the win on his record as a TKO. He is now 20-0 but the world still asks questions about whether on not he is that great.
